Free Business Calls With Skype

Skype is an online communication tool that will allow you to carry on conversations via online call, video, and instant messaging. There is ever increasing use of mobile messaging using this particular service and there are mobile phones that now are being marketed as Skype ready phones.
For those that may not be familiar with the service we are talking about free online conversations, texts, and video calls absolutely free. Free calls are only allowed on Skype-to-Skype calls, which means that the person you call will need to be setup on Skype as well. Talk to anyone, anywhere in the world and it’s free.
What’s interesting is that Skype users at peak times reach up to 20 million users. At the time that I am writing this post there are 15,695,955 users online. According to Skype they have 8% of global international calling and are clearly now one of the leaders in the global internet communications industry. This means that your online business calls are going to be well supported and I’m sure Skype is consistently trying to make this service better for all of their millions of users.
The first call I successfully made was to my brother-in-law who was in China for one of his ski tournaments. I could not believe the quality of sound that was coming through the speakers. My most recent recollection to online calling before this conversation had been that of poor quality calls with miles of delay and static. This definitely was not the case. There literally was no delay and the quality of sound completely blew me away. I have yet to tryout the video calling as the computer I was using had a dysfunctional built-in HP webcam.
All-in-all there is no denying that business use with this type of tool is a no brainer. I have already started to implement Skype into my business and plan to make this my primary tool for communicating with other business colleagues that are located across the globe. In addition to normal business calls, there are a couple services that act as a plug-in to Skype. These plugins allow for call recording, video conversation recording, conference call facilitation and recording for business meetings, and many other functions. These can be found in the extras under the business category on your Skype user interface.
So how have you used Skype in your business? If you have not used Skype’s services, how could you use Skype to help your business?
